Mennen graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor of science in Kinesiology & Health I Biology (2014). He also served as a volunteer Strength & Conditioning Coach with Iowa State Football (2012-2013) and holds a CSCS through the NSCA.

A native of Grundy Center, IA, Mennen resides in West Des Moines. Mennen currently serves as a high school biology and health teacher at Johnston High School (2015-present).
