Helgeson graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor of arts degree in Management Information Systems (1995). He was a defensive back and a 3 year letter winner for the Panthers.
A native of Lake Mills, IA, Helgeson and his wife Caryn live in Johnston and have four children, Caleb (24), Owen (22), Jacob (20), and Chloe (18). Helgeson currently serves as a Senior Solutions Architect at John Deere Financial.
